Christians fail to tap into one of the most powerful and rewarding spiritual reservoirs we have at our disposal—Fasting and Prayer. And it’s often because they don’t know much about this important command for Christ’s followers. This manual is devoted to sharing with you the “what,” “why,” “how” and “when” of this important scriptural discipline so you can put it into action for your life. If you’ve never fasted or want to know more about it, we want to cover the basics with you.
WHAT IS FASTING?
Biblical fasting is giving up specific foods and drink for a specified number of days. The type and length of the fast you choose is between you and God, and should not be determined by what anyone else is doing. Fasting, prayer and reading God’s Word go hand in hand. When you fast, also pray for God’s purpose and plan for your life to be revealed. Fast and pray about every major decision in your life. Simply put, fasting is a way to conquer the physical and open the door to the supernatural in your life. When you deny your body, you feed your spirit and grow closer to the Lord.
In Matthew 6, Jesus gave us specific direction on how to live as a child of God. That pattern addressed three specific duties of a Christian: Giving, Praying and Fasting. Jesus said, “When you give,” “when you pray,” “when you fast.” He made it clear that fasting, like giving and praying, was a normal part of Christian life. When all three disciplines– giving, praying and fasting–are at work in your life, you release the complete power of God. It’s much like the lesson Jesus taught in Mark 4:80. When you pray, you release the thirty-fold return. Praying and giving releases sixty-fold blessing. But when you pray, give and fast, you will see a hundred-fold return!
HOW DO I FAST?
Before beginning your fast, write down a plan and make a verbal commitment to the Lord. When you approach it with determination, you’ll be less likely to waiver in weak moments.

Day 1 Focus:
Preparation- Prepare yourself to allow God to use you this year; Commit to Christ as Lord, Commit to Christ’s Body, Commit to Christ’s Word, Commit to Christ’s World Mission.
“Why do you call me Lord, Lord and do not the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46)
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” (Acts 2:42-47)
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed…” (John 8:31)
“Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all nations…” (Matt 28:19-20)
Prayer for the day
Father I thank You that You are Lord of every area of my life and that I call You Lord out of a heart of obedience. Draw me closer to You, that I may know You more intimately and my desires become more of what You desire. By Your grace Lord, Your divine influence I decree a great commitment to You as Lord, to Your body, to Your Word and to Your world mission in Jesus’ Name Amen.”
Day 2 Focus: Personal Manifestation in Your Life – Self, Health, Family & Finances.
“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4: 22-24)
‘Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.” (Psalm 107:19- 20) “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (3 John 1:2)
“The LORD will open to you, His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations,
but you shall not borrow.” (Deuteronomy 28:10) “And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, which He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” (Deuteronomy 8:18)
Prayer for the Day
Thank You Father that You have developed me in daily habits and ways to keep me organized, on track, and moving forward in life. I have more than enough time to do all the things God would have me to do, which includes; His Kingdom, myself, family, education and job/business. I pray that I live out the plan of God for my life daily. My mind and flesh always respond in obedience to Your directions. I am an example of a Believer in word, conversation, love, faith and in purity. When faced with many paths of judgment I choose the way of righteousness. I pray that I always fulfill Your priorities and never allow my flesh to dictate my actions or attitudes. I am diligent and accurate in the financial management of my/our household and the devil cannot steal from us in any area of our life. The anointing for increase is upon my life. Father God, I am committed to a healthy lifestyle of eating and regular exercise each day and all the days of my life. I eat what is good, healthy and nutritional, that which provides an intricate part of “Bringing individuals into the Kingdom, Undergirding them, Investing in them through love and Discipleship.” Lord I make a decision to not be a hearer only of the vision but a doer of the vision in Jesus’ Name Amen.
Day 3 Focus: FFCC – Growth 300 members in 365 DAYS, Souls in the Kingdom, Saints, FFCC Vision

And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. (Luke 14:23)
“My little children of whom I travail in birth AGAIN until Christ be formed in you.” (Galatians 4:19)
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints…” (Eph. 6:18)
“And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that read it.” (Hab 2:2)
Prayer for the Day
Father I thank You that we are empowered by Your Holy Spirit to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature and make disciples. We pray for the laborers of the harvest that because we are empowered we compel those in the hedges and highways to come to You. Help us to take the time to travail for the lost and for Christ to be formed in the saints, help us to supplicate for all saints and to be the porters that You have called us to be. Thank You for the vision You have give to FFCC. I declare we are a body united for Your plan and purpose. I understand the vision of FFCC, I embrace the vision and I run with the vision. Thank You I am a intricate part of “Bringing individuals into the Kingdom, Undergirding them, Investing in them through love and Discipleship.” Lord I make a decision to not be a hearer only of the vision but a doer of the vision in Jesus’ Name Amen.
